Who We Help

People Matter to God, so they matter to us!

. The Mission is dedicated to helping others. We are a faith-based organization, who seeks to Glorify God in all we do. We believe that God loves and cares for every person and is not willing to write anyone off. We recognize that it is important to include services for all individuals, many who are just one paycheck away from homelessness. Everyone deserves support, no matter their circumstances. 

Chronic Homelessness

Individuals who are homeless for a longer amount of time, usually older, injured and/or disabled. This can be the most difficult to serve as many have a pattern of homeless that has lasted years. Others suffer with a disability, mental health or addiction issues.

Traditional Homelessness

Individuals who stay at a shelter for only a short period of time due to a catastrophic event, usually younger individuals, who need to go to a homeless shelter for a short time. These individuals often utilize motels/hotels in between.

Episodic Homelessness

Individuals who are frequently going in and out of homelessness; they can range from younger to homeless individuals, who are homeless due to abuse, unemployment, addiction, mental illness or medical problems.

Lifestyle Homelessness

Believe it or not, we are aware that some people choose to be homeless. Some people don’t want to live within structured family life or community. Some are explorers who enjoy travelling around the country visiting different communities, while others just don't want to accept responsibility.

Hidden Homeless

These individuals often go unreported. We saw this in 2020 when Covid-19 first started. So many shut down, but The Mission of Winter Haven remained open. We had no idea there were so many. Some too embarrassed, too vulnerable to look for help, or slipped through the cracks.

At Risk of Homelessness

Those individuals who are just one paycheck away from homelessness, struggling to survive and needing help to stay afloat. This can include someone with a job loss, health circumstance, low-income families, and more.
